INVESTIGATION

Throughout its more than 100 years of history, the San Sebastian Aquarium has developed extensive informative, preservation and research work both in the field of history/heritage and in the field of biology.

As far as information is concerned, as well as the bulletins issued by the laboratory, numerous scientific articles have been published in relation to the different research projects carried out by our biology team, either by itself or in collaboration with other prestigious institutions including the Azti research centre, the Spanish Institute of Oceanography and the University of the Basque Country, etc.

Important projects have also been developed in the field of history/heritage to preserve the historical memory, which have been explained in several of its own publications.

However, this vast knowledge mustn’t be restricted to the scientific circle; it must be passed on to society in a language that is clear, easy to understand and adapted to all ages. The work of our informative team is essential in this transmission since it is they who develop the guided tours, the workshops and all of the didactic material used both at the Aquarium and in the outside activities.
